ASP.NET page viewed in Internet Explorer 11 defaults to Document Mode: 5 (Default). Why? -


I have an asp.net page that is the default for "Document mode: 5 (the default)". I understand that I can add a meta tag to compel IE = "edge" as shown below, but they do not have either a meta tag in this page or this is a master page if such a meta tag is not set So IE has set dynamically the document mode depending on the markup of the page?
